In just few months that hardware will become (commecialy) obsolete, so there will
be no way to buy them...

Actually, the people who market PC hardware stopped pushing 802.11b two years
ago. But the stuff will still be available new in box for a few more years. I
just saw a copy of OS/2 2.11 new in box...

I'm afraid that (rather weird imho) experience is of no use at all in Italy, nor in Europe for that matter.
Bottom line, what is valid in your specific situation could as well be invalid and counter productive in an other firm.
Me thinks each owner  has to decide himself while taking into account his specific situation.

That isn't quite true, either, or no one would buy any PC. Compared to a new
Apple, the latest PC looks like an antique. I assure you people still buy PCs,
even if they are a couple of years behind.

... maybe in the States poverty is already that far ... OTOH, I can assure you resellers even can't get rid of 6 months old computers here. That's the reason too why there are almost no stocks af anything anymore. Meaning, when something goes South in general there aren't much other options than to purchase an entire new set.

Right now, it's amazing we have even this much OS/2 support. Worrying about not
having 802.11g support,

Dunno about the States, but here we can't even get a wired connection at school, universities etc... anymore. If you can't present yourself in wireless mode, you better prepare yourself to go to hell.

when it's coming anyway

Is it?

Can I remind you even the 11b generic still is restricted to the closed circle of the happy few? And that one is already close the 1.5 years of age.

I really would like to see it's "coming", but something that is circling in secretiveness in closed circles, I really can't see something like that as "coming".
