To clarify, here is a quote from the Innotek forum, specifically a reply 
to me from Achim Hasenmueller specifically related to using VPC's 
Virtual Switch with a wireless NIC (October 1, 2002):

    We do not support the Virtual Switch on wireless network cards in
    VPC/2 because it is not possible to send out frames having a
    different MAC address than the hardware with 802.11b. We are looking
    into providing a workaround like Virtual PC on Windows does for a
    future update.

I'd have to look closely at what Dave has managed to achieve, but I must 
admit that it's nothing short of a feat of solid ingenuity to bounce 
packets through a "phantom" NIC as a workaround. Next time I run into a 
routing issue, I'm flying Dave in to fix it!! :-)
