Stan Goodman and Lothar Frommhold,
I apologize for taking so long to get this to you, but it seems that I am even less informed about networking than I thought. Hopefully, this is not too late for Stan. The wireless does not seem to be a problem, but peer to peer setup etc still escapes me.
My immediate goal is to get Stan some instructions which will "guarantee" that his Cisco 350 will work when he needs it to. I will continue to pursue the larger goal of a complete instruction for the T21 as rapidly as possible.
As for the short term goal, I would recommend that only one card adapter be loaded in the Adapter and Protocol Configuration (Local System, System Setup, Network, Adapters & Protocols) window at a time. As a starting point, let's say that Stan's Intel Pro 100 card is fully functional. When Stan wishes to use the Cisco card, he should go to the Adapter and Protocol Configuration window, highlight the "Cisco Aironet 340/350 11 Mbps Wireless LAN Adapter" in the Stage 1 window, and click the Change button. That adapter should now be showing in place of the Intel adapter in the Stage 3 window. Although XWLAN will set the SSID for you if it is working properly, if you already know it you can set it by highlighting the Cisco adapter in the Stage 3 window and clicking the Edit button. OK, Save, and exit. Reboot.
Now right click on the XWLAN widget and select Properties. On the TCP/IP tab select lan0.
Finally right-click on the widget and select Add/Edit Profile.
Profile Name is just a descriptive name.
Connect to should be set to "Basic/Extended Service Set (BSS/ESS)" if you plan to connect to a wireless router.
Network Name/System Service ID (SSID) should be set to the SSID of the router you plan to use.
That is a close as I can get to "guaranteeing" it will work.
Have a great day,
