Indeed, yes, meanwhile I've figured that out myself.

So bottom line. If you want to use the ARtem driver don't try and use XWlan. Do
it the old fashioned way.

So, now the jacaranda card works properly, with no wlanstat.exe around at all.

I never liked gimmicks, seems I haven't iy wrong that much after all.
