Any ideas? > Sam, I had the same problem a while back. Same card and driver. Exactly the same symptoms... The problem you describe actually involves two different protocols. TCP/IP when downloading from the internet. Net bios when you try to download from the server (copy?). In my case downloading from the internet worked fine as did FTP to/from the server. Both of these are TCP/IP. When trying to copy (Netbios) to/from the server the results were erratic and the WifiState signal strength varied and frequently dropped to nothing requiring a reboot the get the MA311 back again. The FTP and Netbios tests were done with the same 5 meg file. Interesting thing was that everything I did to improve signal strength made the problem worse! I installed hi-gain antennas on both ends and mounted the antenna on the outside of the building leaving only one wooden wall between the remote system and the AP. At idle the WifiState signal bar was pegged all the way to the right. But as soon as I started a transfer it would begin to fluctuate and sometimes I would lose the signal/ma311 immediately and sometimes it would transfer the file several times before dropping the link. AND sometimes the problem would go away for hours and/or days... Oh, I also tried TCP over Netbios with the same results. I did NOT find a solution for this problem. :-( I went back to a 10/100 nic with 150 ft of Cat5e cable (cable will be buried this week) and I am getting reliable file transfers at about 6.5-7 MBS. Much better than the .5-.57 MBS I was getting when the WiFi thing worked. I haven't done all the testing I want to do at this point but so far so good. I thought I was alone with this problem and chalked it up to an environmental problem on my property. RF interference ? I have dozens for wireless security devices here... Don't know why it would only show up using Netbios though... - ray -- Ray Hyder ===== "Why is this thus?
