Sounds like you really do have your hands full, Charles. A couple quick tips for looking into your shutdown hang: * Use a process killer to zap every conceivable running process before shutting down, and see if you can get it to go down properly. * REM all of your ancillary device drivers from CONFIG.SYS (PCMCIA, audio, SCSI - if possible! - , etc.) and see if it goes down properly. * Boot from the eCS CD into the management console, and see if you can get a clean shutdown from there. * Run several CHKDSK passes against the drive. * Run DFSee and have it check the partition structure. These things can be really tough to figure out, as there really is very little feedback provided during testing!
