well, one difference is that I have a j2cpl.exe in my Java 1.5 BIN 
directory, that you don't so I moved that out and tried again but got 
the same error.

I wonder - did you replace ALL the exe files in the Java 1.5 BIN 
directory with those from 1.4.2 - or just some ?

Do your  file sizes / dates in the Java 1.5 BIN directory match these 
please ?
