Also, the frame rate on the unit at Computer Geeks is terrible (10fps). This leads to really choppy video. One of my suppliers has a new model network-attachable camera with a 30fps frame rate for under $300 (http://www.cables.com/miva/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=CARA&Product_Code=IP-Camera&Category_Code=NH). I'll be getting an eval unit to check out later this week.

Anyone have any idea if this can be accessed and controlled with just a
browser?  It claims the images are in JPEG image and M-JPEG image
format.but it also says it has a driver CD and requires DirectX 8.

Hi Mark,

Don't know about the particular camera you mentioned, but I've been using the Axis 2100 web cams for several years now with OS/2 and everything works 100%.  The cameras have ethernet and serial ports (I use ethernet) and I use Netscape/2 or Mozilla/2 to configure it and view the video streams.

 http://www.axis.com/products/cam_2100/index.htm

However, they recently came out with an optional audio module that mentions Explorer and Active X as requirements for the audio portion... I don't need audio.  I see they also offer optional 802.11b Wireless Device Points for wireless connectivity.

HTH,

Randy
