BASEDEV=danis506.add /PCS /A:1 /BAY I don't think that the problem lies here. It works as it should in the first place: When I insert the CF card in the PCMCIA adapter I get the beep of PC-Card Director first, followed by the single short beep of DaniS506 as described in the (very good) documentation. Running "Refresh Removeable Media" brings up as the E: drive object (C: and D: are HDD partitions). Using the "Eject disk" of the pop up menu removes the drive (or produces the described TRAP). The chance of getting the failure (DaniS506 beeps in an interval of about 5 seconds, no access to the media) is more likely when the camera has written something to the CF card before, or when I do more than one access to the media at the same time. It does not matter if it is a read or a write access to produce the problem. I tried everything one can think of, including manipulation of the CF card volume and partition using LVM and formatting. What I haven't tried is to use another file system than FAT, as the digital camera would not be able to read it. Before I contact Daniela directly I would like to sort out if this is a problem with my setup, or a general problem (others have encountered it, too). I really don't want to slow down DaniS506 development by sending her unnecessary bug reports. ;-) The funny thing is, that the PCM2ATA does not show up any problem. All the data on the CF card is accessible, I never lost a bit (I am aware of). I can (some sort of) live with the PCM2ATA driver, but it is clumsy compared to Daniela's elegant approach: The drive icons are there all the time, I have to access the CF card as E: or F: depending on the slot I inserted it into, and LVM does not assign a drive letter to a USB device automatically (it tries to use the already used letter E: i think).
