In our accounting practice, we have to remind people tima and time again that they are not required by any law to divulge their Social Security numbers to any non-governmental agency (bad enough to governmental ones!). They may be asked for their numbers, but so many of them just don't say, "no." Another example of letting the privacy slip, and then it's such a slippery slope. People still print their Social Security numbers on their checks! Luckily, in New York, our driver's licenses do not have our SS #'s on them. In Virginia, my brother had to actually fill out a special form at DMV so as to get a non-SS # on his license. And of course, the people on the other side of the counter look at us with such disbelief... >Anyway, that's why I'm so concerned about the security of my network. > And rightfully so! > We >being the 4th largest city in America - let's see, how large is New York > > At the beginning of "Welcome Back, Kotter," they zoom in on a sign which says, "Welcome to Brooklyn - the Fourth Largest City in the US."
