The handheld may not have been, but the Kismet software he was using supports:

   1. Linux
   2. Linux-ARM
   3. BSD
   4. Win32 (Cygwin)
   5. MacOS X

This may be able to be run on OS/2 with a bit of tweaking perhaps using EMX. They have source code
available http://www.kismetwireless.net/code/kismet-3.0.1.tar.gz

Here's some screen shots of the Kismet software working, I notice that it detects networks without
SSID, too.
