There is not even a W2K driver; XP, Vista only. The XP driver and connection app refuses to even try to load under W2K.

Are you saying that if you configure GenMAC for an RTL8168 that it effectively drives the 8111C?The Realtek 8111C is not yet supported (and I have read some dreadful things about it; it seems that Realtek needs to get its firmware in order for that one, I guess).
GenMac works with Rtl 8168.
ALC888 is HDA, not AC97. Are you saying that somehow an AC97 driver works for the onboard ALC888 codec?
The CPU should be supported, and the ALC888 should be working with UniAUD at this point (I've had mixed results; HDA is still so problematic for us).
AC97 works.
I did an RC6 install with Panorama. I got 1024x768. It is distortedCheck out my mention of the Panorama siteon the eCS list. Perhaps there is a more recent build which performs better. The widescreen activator may make the difference, here.

If the WET works the machine will be functional.Great news! The Centrino 2 is essentially a Core 2 Duo. Do you have both cores running under ACPI with /SMP /APIC?
