Well, I finally bit the proverbial bullet and ordered the ThinkPad A31p
with the Intersil PRISM 2.5 chipset mPCI Wi-Fi adapter, so in a couple of
weeks you can count on me to be picking everyone's brains as to how to set
the machine up under both WinXP and eCS v1.1 for wired ethernet AND
wireless access.
Seems I've seen some pretty slick ways mentioned here of switching from
wired to wireless and was curious about doing this under WinXP. Having
just recently reinstalled Win2K on my desktop, at least I'll have some of
the configuration procedures fresh in my mind but I'm sure there's enough
difference between XP and 2K to make things a tad bit difficult.
Also, I'm wanting to repartition the TP's hard drive to accommodate adding
eCS and am not sure exactly how I'm going to go about that but suppose
I'll do as I always do and just experiment. Speaking of experimenting,
after recently installing eCS v1.1 several times now, I can say there are
a few gotchas, but all in all their installation routine has improved
immensely and I can actually now install from the bootable CD-ROM. Now I'm
not so concerned about installing on the TP and having to worry about
whether I needed to make the installation diskettes and having a floppy
for that purpose.
Anyway, I hope everyone's having a nice Memorial Day weekend! Later.
Charles
