Ah, I did not address one additional scenario with my previous posting:

you definitely have the need to disable the previously used interface, if you intend reach the same IP subsegment once with cabled nic, then with wifi nic, without a system reboot.

This is a case very similar to that you try to get an IP address by DHCP for your wireless nic, and receive an address of the same IP subsegment, as you configured manually and statically for your wired interface.

As long as the two interfaces address different IP subsegments, there is no need for scripting.

Se my other posting for soultions that I can think of to implement in XWLAN, so that hopefully scripting can be avoided also for these cases.
