As most of you probably already know, I'll be doing a half-day class in Denver on WiFi/2 (hey, I like the look of that acronym...not very original, but it does the trick, huh?). I plan to assemble a WiFi LAN with a make-believe internet connection. Besides the basic setup and 128-bit WEP configuration, is there anything else that anyone thinks I should cover in particular? Hotspot stuff is usually pretty easy (no encryption; turn off peer services). Tips for hotels (mind the SSID; dealing with captive portals)? Incompatible security (EAP, LEAP, TKIP, WPA)? VPN concerns? Channel-hopping?
Input is greatly appreciated. Hope to see many of you there!!
Hi,
if you need any information on the Wireless LAN monitor (Wifistate replacement wlan.netlabs.org), please let me know. I also intend to implement a simple hotspot detection soon (means a built-in default connection profile being able to connect to every hotspot) as well as a finction "create profile from current hotspot connection". This should make it easier to explain how to hunt hotspots.
I will do a session on Wireless LAN Monitor on Warpstock Europe end of November in Arnhem, Netherlands, so I would greatly appreciate if you could send me details on your session regarding the usage of Wifi/2 and the hotspot issue as well as the Wireless LAN monitor. And of course, questions of the audience, if any.
thanx, Christian
