That works fine. How did you generate the keys? What brand is the router and what brand/model is the wireless nic? At my friend's and I admit it, on windows, I could not get the encryption to work until I literally coped and pasted the key from the Router into the configuration for the nic. And it was a passphrase generated one. Also, on XP at least, I've seen that NICs can be set to any security protocol, Open, Shared, etc. and that the Intel ones at least, have an 'Auto' function (again at least on the one in the TP42 that b and g network ready), is the router set to Open and the MPTS configuration file also set to Open? Or are you using something else. As for the SSID being unavailable, again, with the Intel Pro B/G wireless they are using the TP's these days, the driver's utility shows EVERY SINGLE NETWORK with and without the SSID. We found that there were 5 different networks with 3 of them not broadcasting SSID. It told us if they were B or G and if they were encrypted or not. I wish it told us the channel in the same panel so we could figure out the frequency they were using. We even connected to someone else's G network at 54mb which had a hidden SSID with the ANY option. It wasn't even encrypted or MAC filtered! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to steward@2rosenthals.com with the command "unsubscribe os2-wireless_users" in the body (omit the quotes).
