I have used it as a modem in = Win by connecting with Blutooth but have found it to be annoying to = connect. I think there is a way to connect by using the cable also but = have never been able to figure it out. What I have done is purchase a Sierra Wireless Aircard 881 and pull the = SIM chip from the phone and insert into the Aircard. Works like a charm = with the exception of not being able to make or take phone calls at the = time. The Aircard was available on eBay for US $40.00 +/- IIRC. Hope this helps, YMMV David -----Original Message----- From: OS/2 Wireless Users Mailing List [mailto:os2-wireless_users@2rosenthals.com] Sent: Thursday, April 23, 2009 2:57 PM To: OS/2 Wireless Users Mailing List Subject: [OS2Wireless] Cell phone as dial-up modem What if anything is available to get a cell phone to act as a dial-up=20 modem? OS/2 would be nice but I will settle for Win. I did this on my previous laptop with the help of Cingular. I had the=20 choice of paying by the byte or just treating it like an ordinary phone=20 call and just being charged minutes. I chose minutes. I had not done it for a while, had to replace the laptop, Cingular has=20 become AT&T, who now tells me I can't do that any more. They now insist = on a separate data plan which is not cost effective for occasional use. On the desktop I can get free dial-up from several ISPs. If I can get=20 the OS to treat a cell phone as a modem I should be able to do it with a = laptop.
