just learned about this mailing list and read some postings within the archive.
There seem to be problems with setting the WEP keys within the MPTS. As an alternative for this method, requiring a reboot, I used the Wifistate utility to switch between different connection profiles (with or without WEP encrpytion, and for different access points). Then I reworked this application and the XCenter Widget of Markus Montkowski and gathered all together in a new package named "Wireless LAN Monitor", being available both as a XCenter Widget as well as a standalone executable.
This package works with several driver versions of the WLan driver of Jens Glathe, including the current Artem driver as well as the current beta of the driver for the generic Prism Chipset (which I use with the Artem card). Users of other WLAN cards may have a problem, as the package recognizes only certain drivers. I know the full names (titles within NIF files) only of the two drivers that I tried myself:
filename: ARLTNDIS.NIF
Title = ARtem Onair ComCard 11 PCCard 5.0V
Version = 1.5
DriverName = ARWLAN$
filename: genprism.nif
Title = Generic PRISM driver for PCMCIA/PLX cards
Version = 2.0RC3
DriverName = PRISMC$
Of other drivers I know only the driver names, knowing from Jens Glathe that they are compatible with the driver interface used (both by the Wireless LAN Monitor and WifiState): AMBPLX$ CWL350$ IBMWFL$ PRISMP$ PWLPLX$
If you are willing and able to test the monitor package, please let me know what driver you use (data of the nif file). If your driver is not included in the above list, please send also the NIF data, perhaps Jens can determine if the Wireless LAN Monitor and WifiState would be compatible to also this driver.
When testing the monitor, make sure to read the section "Limitations" in the INF file (launch with readme.cmd)
thanx, Christian
