I'm an APC reseller, so naturally, I would recommend an APC solution.
Have a look at http://www.apc.com/products/family/index.cfm?id=145 for some in-line models. For whole-house protection, look at http://www.apc.com/products/family/index.cfm?id=174 (this would not preclude the necessity of a separate coax arrestor/suppressor).
