The hotel staff seemed completely in the dark... That was because the wireless was provided by Warpstock, not the hotel. Warpstock always does its own networking. All we negotiate with the hotel for is an internet connection. Unfortunately no matter how many times I verified that fact with them, they still never seemed to get it last year and we had to go through hell with them over it as they wanted to charge us for every individual who connected to the LAN.
