Once the cost comes down, it will make about as much sense to deploy an 802.11b access point as it does to deploy a 10Mbps hub (as opposed to a 10/100 switch). There are interoperability concerns, however, as 802.11g is about as standardized as a "standard" RS-232 serial port (read: everyone thinks he can strap it differently to reinvent the wheel). But just as we saw that change with 1GB fiber & copper, so shall this, too.
