Actually, you can do this with a T, a couple of different ways:

     1. With a dock. You also get added features in addition to a fully capable UltraBay, such as: PCI slot (okay, so it's only for smaller PCI cards, but still...); two additional PC Card slots; locking security; two USB ports; and a host of other passthrough ports (serial, parallel, video, audio, mouse, keyboard - separate connectors, etc.

     2. With a cable from IBM, which connects to the parallel port of the Txx and to the back of the floppy drive. I used to use mine all the time, until I got the dock.

For me, the single biggest attractyion of the A series is that beautiful 15" display panel on several models. That's really nice.

Actually, the A series trades off a bunch of stuff:

     - Plastic case, as opposed to titanium composite;

     - Weight! Wow! WOW!!;

     - TV out (depends upon the model, obviously; a couple A's come with DVI, while no T's do, unless the T30 has it, but I don't believe so);

     - Audio quality: The A's speakers seem to overload and crackle rather easily, whereas I don't get this on the T;

     - Keyboard feel: I dunno, maybe it's just me, but the keyboard on my T20 just feels tighter than the one on Diane's A22m. I can't comment on the newer A's, as I haven't had the opportunity to feel them, but I know that the T's through the 23 feel essentially similar.

Okay, enough of this ThinkPad comparison. It's all like tasting fine wine; which one is better is best left to the individual palate... ;-)
