Ah, there's the rub...

I have an A30p that I bought little over a year ago.  It has the
complete set of network combos:
Ethernet Works like a champ!
802.11b Works quite well with the 'beta' that
has been mentioned on this list.
Bluetooth Never tried it because I don't have a
driver.
And a totally worthless Lucent modem!

I would not have selected the Bluetooth, but in order to get everything
else that I wanted, it was there...  NO CHOICE.

The key items in *my* choice:

* Had to have a large HD:  48BG
* Had to have Ethernet.
* The 802.11b was a real PLUS, but if it had not been there, I would
probably have still bought it.
* Had to have the capability to house, *simultaneously*, a DVD/CD-R/RW
*and* a diskette.  Yes, I know the word is that diskettes are going the
way of the dodo bird.  But, in my environment, I just could not see
being without one immediately available.  THIS is the MAJOR item that
you give up with the Tnn-series.
* I was really hopeful that the modem would work.  There were a number
of drivers mentioned as 'should work' but they did not even come close.
I have not had time to try the one that just came out a week or so
ago.
* Since I had to get the machine with some form of Windoze, I was
adamant that I did NOT want XP. Even though the system was only booted
to Win2K long enough to run Partition Magic to set up for eCS, my mind
was made up.  The system has only run eCS since the install was
completed and stable. [circa last March/April or so.]

Oh, one other irritation:  My old 380-XD TPad handled hibernation very
well.  This one does not.  It will tolerate the battery down to nothing
as long as it is not *totally* dead.  If I can get it plugged in before
it loses all its brains, it will generally recover.  I'm not really
sure how the Tnn works in this regard.

Everything other than the modem and the Bluetooth works just fine,
thank you...

OK, so you asked the time and I told you how to build a clock...  But,
this is my view of the A30p.
