Unfortunately,
we do not have 5GHz (802.11a) drivers for OS/2.
What would be the most used card ??

A little more on the subject, from another article on the same site,
this one dealing with 2.4GHz vs 5GHz equipment
(http://www.80211-planet.com/tutorials/article.php/1569271):
2.4GHz WLANs can experience interference from cordless phones,
microwaves, and other WLANs. The interfering signals degrade the
performance of an 802.11b WLAN by periodically blocking users and
access points from accessing the shared air medium. If it's not
possible to reduce potential interference to an acceptable level,
then consider deploying a 5GHz system, which is relatively free
from interfering sources.
