Progress report. For testing, I've used a fairly simple ascii key that
mixes UC and LC and also is part in German, part English.
Here's what works, with the T60 in XP and the Linksys:
LINKSYS T60XP
Wpa Personal WPA PSK (either AES or TKIP)
WPA2 Personal WPA2PSK (worked with AES; didn't try TKIP)
What doesn't work:
LINKSYS eCS
WPA2 Personal WPA2PSK
What has always worked, and worked just now:
DLINK DWL700AP eCS
WAP
WEP64 WEP64 (didn't try WEP128) (I think this worked in
XP also)
I'm coming to the conclusion that Genmac/XWLan WPA isn't working for me
here.
