I gave up trying to get my Asus WL-330g to support my Vonage ATA--The WRT54G is THE Classic WiFi access point and router, it has a built in 4 port 10/100 switch. I talks to all internet feeds I have come across - ADSL / Cable / 3G (but in all cases using the appropriate service providers modem - the WRT54G is not a modem). This AP benefits from the fact that Linksys (now Cisco) open sourced the firmware and now may upgrades are available for it to add all kinds of features that would normally only be on professional devices. DD-WRT is a well known collection of upgrade firware for the WRT and several other router/APs. What you need is firmware to add the Bridging function to the device, this is also at DD-WRT I believe. The WiFi router needs to act as a client to the hotel WiFi network and then you have 4 internet connected (but protected) ports. If however the Hotel requires some human intervention to log in to the WiFi network I suspect this may not be possible using a bridge as you suggest.
problem about conflicting IP addresses was too complex for time I had
for it, and so way beyond the abilities of my friend who has same requirement
(plug Vonage box into ethernet port of wireless bridge when in hotel providing
only wifi as most do now). (He's your typical point-and-drool computer
user, though a bit above average as he uses a Mac.)
Can I get recommendations pls for small-footprint unit with at least two
ethernet ports (have to plug Mac in also as the hotel will probably allow
only one connection per room). Some of the Vonage forums mention as tested well the following; any comments
on these specifically would also be appreciated.
D-Link DWL-810+
Linksys WRT54G Linksys WET54G
My friend and I thank you for all help

PS I realize Internet Connection Sharing should work but I could not get it going
on W2K as there was no sharing option offered in Network Connections.
Supposed to be in XP; where is it in W2K? Cmts also welcome on this.
Anyway we'd want it to work even if computer taken away or offline. ICS
could be a backup so we'd like it to work eventually too.
