What I have seen before is that these so called smart ethernet switches build and arp table. When you plug a device into a different port or switch, as in your case, the switch is still only forwarding traffic for that MAC address to the original port. This table has a time to live before it re-arp's everything and rebuilds the table. Try power cycling both the switch and router.Excellent point, Sam. I should have thought of that. I mainly work with unmanaged switches which do not maintain arp tables.
Some switchs detect the cable disconnect and re-arp and some don't.
