has nothing to do with ham or not...it depends on the firmware running 
on those interfaces as well. The ubiquiti (and others) radio cards do 
support subchannels and the OS being used does as well. Noise is noise 
whether it is from a wideband signal over a narrower signal but when you 
do move to a subchannel, it is like putting a filter in place; not 
totally but pretty much close to it.
