I have a Linksys gigabit smart switch in my network at home, it caches DNS lookups. This and others like the Telstra should be totally transparent to the user, unless the DNS for a particular site is being updates or has just been updated, then unplugging the devices for a few seconds should clear them out. In the cases where the ISP's DNS is being updated or taken offline (which is what it looks like happened to Julian) this kind of thing and using 3rd party DNS servers like OpenDNS.org, make surfing work. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list .
