I should have thought back to when I was regularly using 3Com NICs. Autonegotiation probably came up with 100 Full. Unfortunately, 3Com used to implement full duplex differently than many other manufacturers (e.g., Intel, Cisco, HP), and I used to find that full duplex would result in the symptoms you describe, forcing me to lock my 3Coms down to half. The question is how to do that with this card. I'm sure it's a registry setting (under Windows, at least), but I'm not sure how to tweak that for GenMAC. Some 3Com cards could set this from the DOS utility (there is a DOS driver available for the 556B, but no configuration utility). The duplex setting is my best assessment at this point. (I even had some 3Coms select full duplex when connected to hubs...don't ask...) -- Lewis --------------------------------- Lewis G Rosenthal, CNA, CLE, CLP Rosenthal & Rosenthal, LLC Accountants / Network Consultants New York / Northern Virginia http://www.2rosenthals.com --------------------------------- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list .
