Thanks Lewis - I suppose you don't know if any of the Intel ones have
the supported modem?
The 3Com card has been sitting in an anti static bag for since I bought
the T21 - I doubt it has been powered for more than a few hours in all
it's life - Can electronics still go bad doing nothing?
I don't see why it would cost much, a mini PCI card can only weigh a
few grams.
One of the things I am going to try is another test with Knoppix and
see what sort of speed that gives. Also if anyone can tell me how to
get it to work with Genmac that might be worth a whirl. I just took the
card out to check and it is a 3CN3AC1556B and as I said, PCI scan gives
3C556 as device ID.
I found a Google hit that talked about messing with the BIOS PNP
settings WRT the MAC address funnies but I can't find a relevant
setting to tweak.
