Many thanks for your kind offer to look at the attached files. I was not quite sure exactly which lines I should send and may have included a few more than necessary - I apologize.

As I said earlier, this is a new installation of eCS2.0rc3 on a T40. During installation the software recognized the Intel mini-card 2100, even if the 2100 is not an option in the long list of hardware choices offered. (The Intel 2200, however, is on that list.) Mark Dodel tells me that he had the same problem with his thinkpad and the Intel 2200 minicard; he had to edit protocol.ini to make it work, but I understand not enough of the technology to do that for the 2100. Any help you might be able to give would be much appreciated!

Quick (really quick) first thoughts:

   * REM out the following lines from CONFIG.SYS:

     PSD=ACPI.PSD
     BASEDEV=APM.ADD
     RUN=D:\OS2\ACPIDAEMON.EXE

     Then add (or unREM):

     DEVICE=C:\OS2\BOOT\APM.SYS

     (The T40 will not benefit - at this point in time - from the ACPI
     driver; stick with APM.)

   * Only bind TCP/IP in PROTOCOL.INI (we can add NetBIOS and/or
     TCPBEUI later on)
   * Your PROTOCOL.INI is missing vital information pertaining to which
     wrapper must be used. Try saving the following as PROTOCOL.INI and
     rebooting:

[PROT_MAN]

  DRIVERNAME = PROTMAN$

[IBMLXCFG]

  TCPIP_NIF = tcpip.nif
  W8086X1043_NIF = W8086X1043.NIF

[TCPIP_NIF]

  DriverName = TCPIP$
  BINDINGS = W8086X1043_NIF

[W8086X1043_NIF]

  DriverName = WRND32$
  VENDOR = 0x8086
  DEVICE = 0x1043
  NDIS_SYS = "W70N51.SYS"
  NDIS_INF = "W70N51.INF"
  SSID = "ANY"
  DEBUGLEVEL = "NONE"
  OPTIONS = "NONE"

Give that a shot, and let us know if you can at least get booted and get an IP address with XWLAN managing the card.

Also, it would be helpful if we can confirm that you have a 2100 card. Can you run pci.exe, snip the portion of the output related to the card, and post it?

Thanks, and good luck!!
