Try using a air duster and a tooth pick on the micro switch that senses
the lid closed. My nephew had an old 600 series that would install any
version of windows OK until you actually booted it and the display
would go. Ran fine on the OS/2 boot CD and a Linux boot CD - Tried the
above treatment, a lot of fluff came out, and the problem went away.
