Hmm, stopped by Staples today for something else and on a lark decidedNever underestimate the power of the media... ;-)
to try Kodak brand of DVD+Rs. Kodak DVD+Rs are rated 16x whereas the
Staples brand of DVD-R which I had previously tried is rated for 8x. Lo and behold, I am now able to burn DVDs!
Not sure why since: (1) I previously had a friend try myThere are many factors which come into play with different media/hardware/OS/apps. It's a mix; some will work fine in the drive under one OS and fail miserably under another. I have had OS/2 kernel revisions which completely hosed my ability to burn any media.
DVD-multiburner in his TP running Win and the drive worked fine; (2) I
had also given the same person one of my Staples DVD which he tried and
found to work; and (3) my machine supposedly burns both DVD+R and DVD-R
disks and 8x ought to be fast enough.
But perhaps I am wrong about the ability to use DVD-Rs or the need for
speed with this burner?
