Needless to say it does not work but I am looking into solutions for Linux etc. Judging from http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Huawei_E630_HSDPA_Data_card, this PCMCIA card has its own USB controller which the UMTS/HSDPA capabilities are connected to. A USB-serial converter is also needed. My understanding is that if eCS identifies this USB controller and I have a USB-serial converter, I should be able to use a PPP program to connect to the 'net. I also had a very brief opportunity to test an external USB-based Huawei E220 UTMS/HSDPA modem in the same TP. Based on the blinking light, the USB unit seemed to connect to the 3G network and with the USB driver in my TP. Too late I discovered a webpage which explained that any serial communication program can be used to control the modem whereupon a PPP program is used for the internet connection. Two questions: * How can I verify that the PCMCIA E630 modem is properly identified under eCS and connected and whether the USB stack under eCS has also identified the card? * How can verify that the USB stack under eCS has properly identified and connected with the E220 modem? * Is a USB-serial driver part of the vanilla USB stack under eCS? =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list .
