I'm planning to buy a new laptop and I looked at a T60, with about the same specs as Julians T60.
So, what you say is that with the right (beta) drivers the wired and the wireless network card and
the sound now works? Can you confirm this?

Sound apparently does not work. Per Carl's post to the list in late June (you may read the entire thread in the list archives; search on "OT - Thinkpad T60?"):

Well, as I sit typing on my T60, Core Duo [both processors humming
along] and eCS 1.2R, there are really only two 'sets' of functions that
are keeping me from being completely happy:

   1)  Sound...
This is the very easy description.  There is NONE!
       Zero, zip, nada!
The side effect of this is that I cannot verify that any,
all, or none of the Flash sites will work.  Since they almost
all require/use sound, it's not seemed worth the investigation
yet.  I do hope that there will be a sound solution from the
       UniAud project soon.

   2)  The more difficult descriptions are:  Power Management...
Early on, it appeared that ACPI was the culprit in keeping
any USB devices from working.  But, this was very erratic .
USB flash drives would sometimes work and sometimes not,
depending on ACPI and/or enabling both processors.  As of
ACPI 2.22, I've had no problems with USB drives.  That said,
there are three power areas that are 100% non-functional as far
as I can tell.  [NOTE: There is the possibility that I have
something specified wrong, but my questions about EXACTLY
how the configuration should be specified have gone unanswered.]
       -  Shutdown, power off, reboot
These all result in a hung system requiring manual power
off to reboot.  Power off is, by far, the largest problem,
but for me, the least used.  Using the Power Off switch
always results in 'Dirty Drives' that require CHKDSKs to
          restart the system.
       -  My A30p, if left sitting idle for a while, will turn the
screen off and enter a sleep state.  The T60 leaves the
display turned ON and the system fully active no matter how
long it is not used.  None of the Fn-Fx key combinations
will force Sleep State as far as I've been able to test.
I have the Intel i945GM adapter.  I was told pre-purchase
that the ATI adapter would not work with SNAP.  And, except
for the 'sleep' issue, it has worked just fine.  I have the
SNAP 3.18 Build 505 level, the last that I believe was made
          available before SciTech disappeared.
       -  Printer:  Attached via Parallel Port on Docking Station.
When moving back from battery operation to the dock,
the printer is not recognized.  Status of print jobs
          says, "Printer offline..."

I think this is the complete picture.  But, if someone has any
questions about a particular area, ask...  The only guarantee that I
can make is, if "I don't know," I consider that a valid response.  I
just hope someone else has the key to unlock the issues I've mentioned
   above.

I know that he has the networking going, both wired and wireless.
