As part of Rachel's computer curriculum, I use Peter Norton's "inside the IBM PC," and he has exercises for examining the human-readable portions of executables. We have fun searching for things and exploring (her homeschool curriculum from The Calvert School, outside of Baltimore, MD, began with Windows...that's not exactly the context in which I want to frame her entire computer learning experience - though we will cover Windows, in time - so i scrapped it and built my own, starting with DOS, and a pre-history lesson involving CP/M and some minis). I had occasion to try the 10.03 Broadcom driver, and now recall why I reverted to the 8.28 I'm now using. It (or GenMAC) takes forever to initialize, and seems to make GenMAC behave poorly (not find the hardware, etc.). I didn't REM GenMAC out of CONFIG.SYS, so I can't tell whether the long delay at the B57 load line is indeed B57 hanging up or GenMAC *not* displaying its info for some time. Can anyone confirm this? BTW, I am currently *not* using ACPI on this T43.
