I think I've touched on most of your questions in a posting just sent.
But, for those not covered, I've added a couple of specific
responses...

Yes; almost there...  But, 'close' only counts in horseshoes,
handgranades and A-bombs.

How?  Well, no one said it should not work...  So, dumb me, I just turn
the key that locks the release button, release the TPad and remove it.

Yes, Parallel Port connection.  Optra S1650 only has parallel.  And, it
works too well to spend money on anything else.  Once in a while I wish
I had color, but color and auto-duplexing is either way to expensive or
made of that new element:  nonobtainium.

It is not at all unlikely that I have something specified wrong.  But,
the instructions are all over the place; and couched either so only a
hardware expert can understand them, or specified something like, "If
you need..., be sure to add..."  HOW the @#E@Q# to do I know if I
do/don't need...?

Quad?  I'm just happy for the dual at this point.

If I missed something, just ask...
