Screen properties, Multihead tab, create mode using 2 heads and set base resolution to what you would want it on one screen (typically what you already have it set to probably for normal display) e.g. 1400x1050 in my case. Then close Screen properties. Reopen screen properties and scroll toward the bottom of the resolution list. The resolution you want will double one half the resolution set (based on side by side or above/below) and the same on the other e.g. 2800x1050 in my case. Then close Screen properties and reboot for it to take affect. To the best of my recollection that was all I had to do.
