There is available not a bios "update" but a bios workaround: "no-1802.com". I'll mail you later privately the program.

Just run the program in a Dos window and reboot.

By the way, an other TP(43?): if you have a 40 Giga harddisk now and ever have to replace it you'll probably be in a little bit of trouble. Don't say you haven't been warned!
