I had the same problem getting the 2915/a/b/g genmac drivers to loadI have done this my The Wife's T40, but still XWLAN reports no wireless adapter (the error message during boot has disappeared) - any ideas?
on my T43. There is a bug in the installation default configuration.
You need to go to Adapters and Protocols Configuration and set the
Wrapper Options to the value STACK32. Now it works really well.

For as far as I know, a TP40 never had been equipped with an a/b/g capable card.
Afaik, a TP40 originally had an intel 2100b wireless, and in respect to this one Genmac does perfect a job, no need fot alterations whatsoever.
