I just installed as instructed and use XWLAN to enable the wireless after my desktop starts up. (Now my wired seems to be busted, but that's a nother issue...) The first thing I usually do is to get rid of all security settings to make sure that is not the issue. Also, not sure if this will help, but I had the following experience with my machine (it is T40p with the Atheros built-in wireless) - With v1.6 (and earlier) of GenMAC it never had a problem connecting, fast and reliable. - With v2.0, very problematic, lucky to connect at all, and when it did, it would fail in a few minutes. At this time, I was using a Netgear wireless router (no problem with Windows or a couple of other machines). I recently switched over to a D-Link router, and very surprisingly, v2.0 now works. It is not as good as v1.6, it still takes A LONG time to acquire the first signal, but it functions and generally stays up. Hopefully this is not your problem, since you'd have to get someone else with the exact same pairing of router & wifi chipset to check it out or back level to v1.6 if you can get a hold of it.
