Ed if I offended you by asking that I'm SORRY.

My understanding was that Ed wanted to connect his eCS laptop as a VPN client with a network using a router as the VPN server instead of using an eCS computer as a VPN server behind a firewall/router.  There is not a single router that I am aware of that uses any version of OS/2 as it's OS. Yes, you can setup a eCS/OS/2 computer to do routing, firewall, and VPN. I thought that Ed had already done this in the past and was looking to get past the 'computer' requirement.

There are lots of routers that use DD-WRT or other OpenWRT branches all of which are a Linux variants. DD-WRT has two options for VPN servers, PPTP which is MS based protocols and OpenVPN which Lewis has now said is not a full implimentation on OS/2. Asking how well the eCS client connects with Windows-like PPTP VPN servers is not out of line, from my perspective  since it offers a viable cheap hardware-software solution without actually running Windows (like so many other things)  In fact, if I needed a eCS laptop to connect back via VPN, and I found the eCS VPN inadequate, carrying a hardware router to handle the VPN connection for me is not out of the question since the routers are cheap, and easy to setup,

Stan, you should re-read the thread because that comment is way off base.
If you do and understand it, you'll see that _you_ asked Ed if he can connect his
eCS to an Windows Server using PPTP and all he said was that _he_ didn't care
about connecting to Windows. He didn't say anything about what you, or anybody
else does with their computers in regards to VPN connectivity. He has a desire
to connect multiple eCS based systems regarless of what anyone else is doing.
