Is there another device like the Asus that works as AP and client and

Do you need an access point (allow others to connect to your network) or an Ethernet bridge (connect out to another wireless access point)?

Does it need to be self-contained (no external power adapter required)?

I have a couple of SMC Ethernet bridges/access points.  SMC2870W and SMCWEBT-G.  Both can function as either a bridge or an access point. The older SMC2870W required a firmware load to switch modes, the SMCWEBT-G does not.  Both are configured with a browser.  Both support WEP and WPA/WPA2.  They both have external power adapters.
