Not a technical answer, but maybe this will do.
I wanted to have as much as 30 minutes run time for
a fairly typical latter-day system, if and when there
was a power outage.  I also wanted plenty of power
connections, not easily obstructed by outsized power
plugs (like those squared-off brick-style plugs),
plus whatever good and competitive features you would
get from the better UPS'es.

What I found, in order to match the above, is that
there is a certain line you cross where the units
just become too heavy and too unwieldy for practical
SOHO use.  For me, that line was crossed at the next
jump _above_ the APC Smart-UPS 1400 -- so that is what
I got.  I think it works out to supporting 700 watts
total.  (But, if you have one of those dual-slot,
monster gaming video cards that draws huge watts, this
may still not be a lot.)  Prior to that, I think I
had APC's Smart-1100 (?), which was a bit smaller and
lighter.

I got a certified refurb this time, from a company that
I've used for UPS sales / service for many years, and
it cost less than what I expected.  But, unless you are
within driving distance of Canoga Park, that might not
do you much good, since I think shipping costs would
be prohibitive on account of the considerable weight.
There is some possibility that this company has other
locations, not just in SoCal.  But you can easily
find that model from numerous other vendors.
