If using WPA or WPA2, you should enable broadcast of the SSID, BTW. Connecting to a non-beaconing AP using WPA (or WPA2) can be problematic. In the interim, let's just focus on getting it to stay up with clear connections. once you repeat the experiment, log into the G and look at your connected devices.
