In my experience (with that very model), it is begging for retirement. ;-)
Without fans, these little units are like clutches: from the day you first
put it into service, it starts counting down. From what number it starts,
one can't really say, but unless you keep it in a weather-tight box in a
refrigerator, it *will* die of heat exhaustion. In your case, be happy that
you've been given some advance notice. :-)
