OK thanks.

I've just tried to install the Genmac drivers and the only mod to the config.sys is:

RUN=D:\genmac\DRIVER\HELPERW.EXE

There are no other entries for *.nif or *.sys files and no alteration to the path statement....is this correct?

There is a folder on the desktop which contains only help, a web page, a scan tool (which doesn't find the Wifi device) and an empty log file.

The installation program detected my WLAN as "Atheros 168c:1014".
I've run both the "full" and "split" Genmac installations for the LAN cards detected but on reboot my Wifi warning light is dead/off.


any ideas to fix?

If you know which wifi chipset you have go to netlabs and download the 
genmac package for it.
