While none of this to this point is wireless-related, I'm still curious to know whether you have had a chance to run any benchmarks for network performance (say, netio) against the new driver?

No, never used NETIO.

However, in copying many gigabytes of data over from a T42, both attached through a 100Mbit switch, FileCommander showed
a throughput of just over 10 megabytes/second with large files.

That must be pretty close to saturation of the 100Mbit ...

10MBs = 80Mbps, which is good, considering the transfer overhead. That said, when testing gigabit adapters, I've found that I really need to test them at gigabit widths (speeds, for those lurkers who think along those lines, though "speed" is more accurately a measurement of latency - or vice-versa). When Doug & I were futzing about with the Broadcom drivers, we tested via a gigabit switch as well as via CAT-6 crossover (which gives an indication of how much bandwidth is lost in switching overhead). We used netio, BTW.

Interesting; thanks. Maybe we'll (I'll) have a chance to do some measurements at Warpstock this weekend. Wired or not, I'll post some results if I do. ;-)
