The T line is very solid. If Linux is working then if we can adapt the Linux drivers, we should be able to keep using them.=20 Tim=20 -----Original Message----- From: OS/2 Wireless Users Mailing List [mailto:os2-wireless_users@2rosenthals.com]=20 Sent: Friday, February 16, 2007 10:09 AM To: OS/2 Wireless Users Mailing List Subject: [OS2Wireless]Re: Intel 3945 support in GenMAC On 02/16/07 09:50 am, Sutter, Tim thus wrote : > Hi, > > With all the discussion about the IBM Laptops and such. There are also a number of sources on the net which point to the T60 as being a decent Linux platform (see http://tinyurl.com/hchy2 for some links and additional info). Almost everything works out of the box under OpenSuSE 10.1, and Intel has a Linux driver package for the 3945ABG, as well (available on SourceForge). Still, I think my previous points are valid, in that the ThinkPads are physically solid machines, as compared to other systems with which I've had the distinct displeasure of working in recent years (I set up a Sony Vaio 320Z about a month ago, and even under WXP - the supported, bundled OS - it was a quirky, twisted, unstable, flimsy mass of plastic). MacBooks are also very well made. It would be nice to be able to install eCS on one of those (and I believe it is possible). I just can't stand those touchpads... ;-) Anyway, we're going far afield from the original thread (and OT for this list). I was interested in hearing anyone's success stories with the Intel 3945 mini-PCI Express card using the GenMAC driver. -- Lewis ------------------------------------------------------------ Lewis G Rosenthal, CNA, CLP, CLE Rosenthal & Rosenthal, LLC Accountants / Network Consultants New York / Northern Virginia www.2rosenthals.com eComStation Consultants www.ecomstation.com Novell Users Int'l www.novell.com/openenterpriseserver Need a managed Wi-Fi hotspot? www.hautspot.com ------------------------------------------------------------ =3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D= -=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list .
